Bauernberg October 2012

The Aphrodite statue at Linz Bauernberg was a personal gift from Adolf Hitler to the city of Linz in 1942. It was set up in the garden of Gauleiter Eigrubers villa. The Diana Temple where the statue was set up was built in 1912. After a campaign by students at the University of Art, the statue was removed in 2008 to a depot and is replaced by a performance action in October 2012 by a living sculpture by Theo Blaickner & Marianne Antensteiner.

Surfaces - living Sculptures

by Theo Blaickner & Marianne Antensteiner

“At all times there are animals in art. Already in cave painting of prehistoric times animals – and surprisingly less human beings – constitute the first themes of representation, which tell us of hunt and charm, way of live and magic.”

“Nature is nothing to add!”

We do not let taxes - We find without searching - Art is freedom for all

“Theo Blaickners and Marianne Antensteiners work is signed by the search for a directly dealing with ecological systems away from clichè images of nature, wich can carry through the various media and expressions.”

Robert Fleck
